About us

We are an international manufacturing company based in Tbilisi that designs and produces industrial equipment. We regularly import and export equipment, components and materials.

We're looking for a Senior Customs Declarant to run our customs clearance in Georgia on their own, from document review and goods classification to filing declarations and getting cargo released.

You'll work directly in the customs declaration system and be responsible for getting every filing right. Handing documents off to an external broker is not part of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file import and export customs declarations independently.
  • Carry out pre-arrival declarations so that documents are ready and cargo can be released as soon as it arrives.
  • Work directly in ASYCUDAWorld / eCustoms.
  • Check the full document set before filing: Invoice, Packing List, CMR / AWB / B/L, certificates of origin and other required documents.
  • Confirm that data matches across all documents: description of goods, quantity, weight, value, currency, country of origin, HS code and party details.
  • Determine and verify HS codes based on the technical specifications of equipment, components and materials.
  • Find out whether permits, certificates or other approval documents are needed before cargo ships or arrives.
  • See each clearance through to final release: track declaration status, respond to customs queries, prepare explanations and make corrections.
  • Work with the Revenue Service, customs terminals and brokers on clearance matters.
  • Keep records of imports, exports and re-exports, and make sure goods are traceable and written off correctly.
  • Maintain a register of declarations and an electronic archive of customs documents.
  • Request the data needed for accurate declarations from engineering, production, warehouse and accounting teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on customs declaration experience in Georgia.
  • Experience preparing and filing declarations yourself, without outsourcing the core work to an external broker.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ASYCUDAWorld / eCustoms.
  • Hands-on experience with pre-arrival declarations.
  • Hands-on experience determining and verifying HS codes.
  • Experience seeing clearances through to release, including responding to customs queries, preparing explanations and amending declarations.
  • Ability to spot mismatches between the Invoice, Packing List, transport documents and the declaration before filing.
  • Ability to work with technical specifications and request the data needed for correct classification.
  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, independence and ownership of accuracy.
  • Georgian: required.
  • Russian: fluent working level.
